TOUSEY WINERY - BIRTH OF A NEW HUDSON VALLEY WINERY

On April 10th, 2010 Tousey Winery will prematurely open it's doors to play it's part in the opening of the Hudson-Berkshire Beverage Trail, the newest gourmet trail in New York state and Massachuseets. They are located on Route 9 in Clermont, though their mailing address says Germantown. The winery will be pouring their Vidal Blanc, their Cassis, and their new Chambourcin. Bruce's cassis and vidal have been stunners, so we're excited to try the Chambourcin!

Tousey Winery is still in it's infancy, still being born. But with the new trail launch this weekend, Ray Tousey, farmer and owner, Ben Peacock, general manager, and Bruce Tripp, winemaker, are trying to be goo soldiers. They're going along with the gang. Their official opening won't be until May some time. In the mean time, we're all excited. They were just putting in the shelving and bar when I stopped by.
The bar is a monstrous and stunning piece of wood. Impressive!

Ben's father, Dave, came to visit, and Ben put him straight to work. Dave was happy to help out in the project. Here's Ray, Dave and Ben.

This is the Blue Roof building in Clermont, on Route 9, and the sign outside below. The Tousey Winery sign will go where Nanny Rocker is now.

The vineyard has been pruned and prepared to take on the brunt of the season, and lies in the same field as the raspberries, black currants, and many other fruits that Ray raises.

Good luck guys! Welcome to the newest kid on the block! Another Columbia County winery. Napa and Sonoma watch out!

Three Sisters Project Starts Tomorrow, Saturday, April 3, 2010
