Carlo DeVito has traveled around the US, France, Spain, Chile, Canada, and Italy. He has been a publishing executive for more than 20 years. He shepherded the wine book program of Wine Spectator as well as worked with Kevin Zraly, Oz Clarke, Matt Kramer, Tom Stevenson, Evan Dawson, Greg Moore, Howard Goldberg, and many other wine writers. He has also published Salvatore Calabrese, Jim Meehan, Clay Risen, and Paul Knorr. He has also publisher such writers as Stephen Hawking, E. O Wilson, Philip Caputo, Gilbert King, James McPherson, Michael Lewis, David Margolick, Arthur M. Schlesinger Jr., John Edgar Wideman, Stanley Crouch, Dan Rather, Dee Brown, and Eleanor Clift. He is also the founder of Hudson-Chatham Winery, co-founder of the Hudson Berkshire Beverage Trail, and former president of the Hudson Valley Wine Country. Whitecliff Vineyard Wins at 2008 New York Food & Wine Classic



The Hudson Valley was ably represented by Whitecliff Vineyards 2007 Traminette for Best Traminette.


Congrats to Michael and Yancey Stanforth-Migliore and all the folks at Whitecliff for thier GOLD MEDAL at the 2008 New York Food & Wine Classic!

Catskill's Second Saturday Stroll Wine Event



August's Second Saturday Stroll featured a number of new activities downtown, including a 6-9 p.m. Wine Tasting, "Cat Races," featuring last year's Cat'n Around Catskill Cats, and many sales and promotions, according to Linda Overbaugh of the Heart of Catskill Association which sponsors the 2008 Cat'n Around Catskill.



This was a new event for the the August Stroll and was sponsored by the new Hudson Valley Wine magazine, hosted by Bob Bedford and Linda Pierro of Flint Mine Press of Coxsackie, publisher of the new publication focused on the area’s wines and vineyards.

The wine tasting was entitled, “A Taste of Summer” took place from 6 to 9 p.m., at the corner of Main and Church Streets, and featured a wine tasting of “select Hudson Valley wines,” according to Flint Mine Press.















It was a great night and a lot of fun!

New York Wines Take Off At London Airport



New York wines take off at London airport

The Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse at London’s Heathrow airport now offers New York wines, including Millbrook Cabernet Franc from the mid-Hudson Valley wine country.



The New York wines were brought to London airport private clubhouse thanks to the I Love NY program of Empire State Development, which partnered with Virgin Atlantic.



A selection of wines will be offered for the next two months, including a Wolffer Chardonnay and Peconic Bay Cabernet Sauvignon from Long Island, Dr. Frank Semi-Dry Riesling and Heron Hill Rosé of Cabernet Franc from the Finger Lakes, as well as wine from Millbrook Vineyards and Winery in Dutchess County.

Warwick Holds Wine and Music Mini Fest to Benefit Alzhiemers

Wine and music mini fest to be held Aug. 1

WARWICK — The second annual “Wine and Music Mini Fest” to benefit the Alzheimer’s Association of the Hudson Valley/Rockland/Westchester, will be held on Friday, Aug. 1 from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Warwick Valley Winery at 114 Little York Rd.

The event features wine tasting, three hours of music and food catered by Pane Bakery Café. Musical performances for the evening include Shoe Leather Express, Blue Plate Special, and The Last Stand.

Tickets are $35 per person ($22.50 is a tax deductible donation.) Bring blankets and chairs.
